At Majestic Mud Pottery Studio we have many types of wonderful programs, for all teachers. POTTERY STUDIO FIELD TRIPS This is where your students can experience and learn all about how a professional pottery teaching studio works. In this environment students take a guided tour of the pottery process. We teach and show how all the equipment(The Potters Wheel,Slab Roller,Extruder and Kiln) in the studio works through demonstrations. Pottery is a fun and exciting way to enhance almost any section of your curriculum. Eg:In ENGLISH, students can create characters in clay, and later write a creative story about that character. Just let us know what your students are studying and we can customize their pottery experience, supporting your lesson plan. As a celebration of there learning your students get to create there own clay masterpieces, using varies handbuilding techniques (pinching,coiling and slab). The project will depend on the ages and abilities of the students. Some possible projects are crazy critters, funky coil pots, feeling masks and rattles. We create a playful environment that encourages creativity and self-expression. After they are finished their masterpieces, they decorate them with coloured slip. At the studio we also have musical instruments from all over the world. We use the last 15 mins of the field trip to play and make music and dance. We pull out all the instruments and they learn to express through different rhythms. YOUR STUDENTS WILL GO BACK TO SCHOOL TIRED,HAPPY AND DIRTY!!!!!!! We come to your school with all the tools and clay. This is a great and fun way for your students to learn about the pottery process while they are creating their own pottery masterpieces. Each student makes one to three masterpieces depending on the project we are working on. We use various pottery techniques (Pinching,Coiling and Slab) all depending on ages and abilities. While your students are creating we encourage creativity,co-operation and self-expression. Decorating the pottery will depend on if your school has a working kiln and someone who knows how to fire it. If you have a kiln then students will paint their masterpieces with coloured clay on the day we are there. If we are to fire the students pieces in our kiln, then they can paint their pieces with acrylic paint with you, after we have fired and brought them back to the classroom. WHEN WE LEAVE YOUR STUDENTS WILL BE TIRED, HAPPY AND DIRTY!!!!
